Poetry has always been for me the raw material of my books, the metaphysical element of my vision. Poetry is the primordial material of lost memory, or else, the walking of the soul on the abyss. Today, as the journey reaches an end and I am reviewing my life over the course of time, I feel that this is just what I want to say.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I saw you, Lemnos<\/em>
\nGleaming from stirred memories<\/em>
\nInside the seeds of your earth<\/em>
\nI who laid my longings to rest in your blood<\/em>
\nAnd raised from your earth my sunken land<\/em>
\nAlone<\/em>
\nI stood on the prow of my star<\/em>
\nCarrying myself around in ephemerality<\/em>
\nyour landscapes<\/em>
\nCyclical movement of the eternal!<\/em><\/p>\n

I saw you, Lemnos<\/em>
\nSwathed in the fate of blood<\/em>
\nProudly abolishing death<\/em>
\nUpright on the mane of the waves<\/em>
\nRecanting death again and again<\/em>
\nCyclical ascent on my race's glory<\/em><\/p>\n

I saw you<\/em>
\nMuse once more raising the new times<\/em>
\nBearing blissful memory<\/em>
\nI who spent centuries inside your earth<\/em>
\nSeeking the sunken words<\/em>
\nPebbles polished by time<\/em>
\nI who lived in the heart of your sun<\/em>
\nAnd in the night of myth<\/em><\/p>\n

I saw you<\/em>
\nWhite and surrounded in waves<\/em>
\nRising from the night of your legend<\/em>
\nAnd Selene as the sign for Sapho<\/em>
\nYour golden ivory parts<\/em>
\nWith Alcamenis hands chiseling<\/em><\/p>\n

This is how I carry you<\/em>
\nA watery transparency<\/em>
\nIn my time on this earth<\/em>

\nEarth of your earth<\/em>
